How do I book a session?

Sessions are currently by appointment only, so please ring to book in advance, 01158 084 620. Times are subject to availability but we try to be as accommodating as possible.

What happens in my first session?

Prior to treatment we take a full case history including medical
information, followed by a physical exam of your posture and movement. Please bring any x-rays, scans (with reports) and specialist letters that relate to the area of pain.

Treatment is best performed on skin but can be performed over clothing. Attire suitable for light exercise - shorts, t-shirt or singlet for females is ideal. There may be times where it is necessary to expose areas of skin for medical assessment or treatment, but at all times our patient’s comfort and wellbeing is of paramount importance. At the end of the sessions there should be opportunity to discuss issues regarding lifestyle, diet and
exercise

How long do sessions last?

Allow approx. 1 hour for the initial assessment, but follow up sessions typically last 30 and 40 minutes.

Will I feel sore after treatment?

Any treatment can lead to a short-term exacerbation of symptoms and may cause residual soreness, so allow appropriate rest for optimal recovery. Drink plenty of fluids and avoid vigorous activity to aid recovery and allow time for a good treatment response. If you feel concerned at any point following treatment do not hesitate to contact us.

How much treatment will I need?

Treatment depends upon your condition and a course of treatment can vary but is usually between 3 and 5 sessions. Be aware that chronic conditions can take longer. We do encourage some exercise rehabilitation as pain
reduces to prevent future relapse.

Are sessions covered by my health insurance?

Osteopathy is frequently covered by major insurance companies. We do not presently deal with insurers directly so please consult with your provider for details.

Do you do sports massage?

Osteopathic soft tissue treatment can be very similar to sports massage but is more focused on injury and improved function rather than post performance recovery.
